Kayak tours and Rentals

All trips start with a full briefing by an experience guide, on weather conditions and kayak safety.  All equipment, return transport from Franz Josef village, digital photo's included in all tours.  Your safety is our priority.

Morning Kayak Tours: Best time for families and those that enjoy the calmer side of the day. Pristine paddle conditions

When there is generally little wind, we glide across the surface of the Lake Mapourika which mirrors the surrounding landscape.  On a good day you can view Mount Cook, Mount Tasman & 14 glaciers including Franz Josef.

Tours start at 9.00 am returning aprox 1pm

Afternoon Kayak Tours: A little more adventurous. With the lake at the coastal section of the glacier valley, the venue can experience a coastal sea breeze at the start of the tour, then calm mirro-like conditions though the Kiwi Santuary estuary stream. This time of the day is great for the novice wanting a challenge or the second or third time paddler looking for adventure.

A coastal sea breeze ruffles the surface of Lake Mapourika making the afternoon an interesting paddle across the lake with the bonus of dramatic light change and cloud formations sweeping across the highest peaks of the Southern Alps.

Tours start aprox 4pm - 8pm (Please contact us to confirm time each day)
